Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin decided last night (Sunday) to support the promotion of a bill by MK Zvi Hauser (Derech Eretz) that will postpone the budget approval date in the knesset by one hundred days. The Likud will support the proposal at this stage only in the preliminary reading and in the first reading. According to a Likud source, support for the proposal is intended to prepare constitutional and political options and it should not be inferred that the faction will support postponing the deadline in the second and third readings as well. If the law is not approved, the budget approval date is August 24 at midnight. If the budget does not pass by then, the Knesset will be dispersed and elections will be held.
Blue and White announced that it "congratulates the Likud" on its support for the bill. "We will support the amendment of the existing law, in a way that will allow a budget for the rehabilitation of the Israeli economy," a white brush said. Shas also announced tonight that it would support the proposal
