The Histadrut has launched a new forum for the self-employed, designed to provide a social safety net

The Histadrut has launched a new forum for the self-employed, designed to provide a social safety net for all the self-employed in Israel. In this framework, the organization promises to promote the regulation of adequate compensation for harm to the scope of business activity and the creation of an unemployment benefit mechanism, according to the same rules that enshrine the right to employees.
The forum was launched at the House of Representatives of the Histadrut in Tel Aviv, with the participation of prominent figures from the business sector and the independent struggles. The forum will be chaired by cultural events producer and businessman Rami Beja, and its founders include Gil Hovav, Dedi Suissa, Doron (Kofi) Etzioni, Eli Levy, Moshe Datz, Modi Perry, Shabtai Michael, and Miki de Paz.
The founding charter of the Forum of the Self-Employed, signed this morning by the founders of the project, states that the Histadrut considers social security a basic right for all workers in Israel, both self-employed and employees. The chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar-David, said that the forum was not intended to replace the organizations currently working on the issue, but to establish an extensive cooperation.
"Our goal is to harness the power of the Histadrut as a leading factor in the economy, to bring the plight of the self-employed and freelancers to the table of decision makers and the government," he said. "We entered this crisis together and I want us to get out of it together. The world of employees cannot be separated from the world of the self-employed, it is one world that is intertwined and knitted within each other."
Bar-David also criticized the policy, which he claimed abandoned the self-employed. "A lot of mistakes have been made here," he said. "What would happen if on March 10 they gave unemployment to the self-employed as well? Instead, get smart, send to the funds and loans that were not released. There is no embracing spirit here and no deep thinking here. What is there a country for? What do we live here for? About her blood or also to earn a decent living?
"The state should stand up for the citizens and give them solutions and not overthrow the public. It is not a political matter but a matter of mutual guarantee, friendship, cooperation between streams in the Israeli economy. Try to overthrow self-employed workers. Does that make sense to you? "With the self-employed? Who will buy tickets for performances, who will book trips and hotels? If they continue to visit us, we will not be able to maintain a state here."
Beja stated that "we will gather to formulate goals and objectives and strive to bring a line. The umbrella and platform of the Histadrut are a guarantee of success, and when I say guarantee I mean mutual guarantee between ourselves and the state, all at a time when we must work together to heal the Israeli economy and future. Corrected and better. " According to Datz, "This is a big day because so far we have been left alone. We shout save and in my world, in the world of culture, we have simply been silenced. Routinely we are used to entertaining, laughing, causing tears, emotions, joy and unity. "A person who is not supposed to bring bread home but no one cares about us. Until now they called us by all sorts of names - they called us regrets, they called us aliens and they called us disease spreaders."
The Histadrut also announced yesterday the launch of a body that will work for the benefit of the self-employed and small and medium-sized business owners, on behalf of the Independent Organization in Israel. The organization is headed by Roi Busian, owner of the James restaurant in Modi'in. He said, "The Histadrut is the right family to give a listening ear and support to me and all my independent friends who are fighting for the here and now and want to know that there is a better future for children, their families and them."
Yoav Simchi, Chairman of the Histadrut, stated that "the Histadrut is a federation of organizations that work independently to strengthen and promote each of the employees who are members of these organizations. All this under our auspices. It is the members of the organization's management who will set the agenda, map out the needs and we will provide the professional tools. "
