On Sunday, the government will approve a decision to cut 0.16% of the 2021 budget base, by NIS 100 million, and further reduce the budget base by 2022 by the same amount - in order to fund the agreement to improve the working conditions of social workers while maintaining the budget.
The lateral cut will not necessarily be implemented. Thus, it was determined that the cuts would be made "unless the government decided to carry out another balancing action for the purpose of financing the said decision, in whole or in part, including a temporary reduction in public sector wage expenditures, subject to the signing of a collective agreement between the state and the Histadrut." That is, if the Budget Division's proposal for a pay cut in the public sector is accepted (directly or through various proposals such as a freeze on payments to study funds) - the cut will be canceled.
According to the agreement, in July 2021, the first pulse will be paid for the updated salary in the amount of NIS 200 million. There will be a second pulse with the opening of wage agreements in the economy, the workers and social workers will be excluded and given a designated second pulse. It was also decided on a full security and protection agreement for workers in the amount of NIS 70 million that will be included in the state budget each year, and that all workers will receive a Corona grant for 2021 in the amount of NIS 9,000 to 11,000 per employee.
