Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the summary of National Security Chief of Staff Meir Ben Shabbat, Education Minister Yoav Galant, Ministry of Health Director Prof. Hezi Levy, and Corona Projector Prof. Roni Gamzo, who states that at this time the "Summer schools" will stay open at least until August 6th.
Last Monday, Netanyahu held a discussion on the outline of the education system's activities with Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bnei Gantz, with Minister Galant and with Minister of Science and Technology Yizhar Shai. It was then decided not to close the summer frameworks, and it was decided that another situation assessment would be held today in which all the options that would be on the table would be raised. As stated, at the end of this assessment it was decided to continue as usual until the planned date.
Data on the age distribution of patients, as of Monday, showed that the older the patient, the higher the infection rate. The latest report from the National Security Headquarters revealed that 5-9 year olds were between 4% and 5% of all those infected, while 10-17 year olds constituted between 6% and 10% of all those infected in the education system.
The possibility of closing summer frameworks under the new restrictions has provoked criticism and opposition - both among politicians and on behalf of parents and educators.
Earlier this week, Haim Bibbs, chairman of the local government center, threatened: "We will stand on our own two feet and not agree to the closure of schools. 600,000 families will be left at home without a frame! How will the public deal with this sector for another month and a half? Every effort is made to help parents and children. I call on the ministers to recover. The closure of this summer's school is the closure of the Israeli economy. "
According to him, the kindergartens and the lower classes should also be opened in September and return to the teaching routine.
