Israir Airlines Israir Airlines is extending the vacation without pay period until f February 2021

Posted on Jul 17, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Israir Airlines, which is managed by Uri Sirkis, informed its employees that it is extending the vacation without pay period from the end of August to the end of February 2021. 225 of Israir's 400 employees are currently in leave. The decision to extend the sick leave was made following the increase in morbidity in recent weeks and the government's decision to tighten the restrictions.
Israir estimates that this development postpones the opening of the sky for the resumption of commercial flights until at least November, and therefore even if commercial flights are resumed - this will happen in winter when the demand for flights is weak for seasonal reasons even at times when they are repaired. The decision not to extend the sick leave period for a period of six months or for a shorter period is intended to allow workers sent to the sick leave period to try to find an alternative or permanent job for the next six months, while still entitled to unemployment benefits, instead of waiting in vain to return to work.
"An English proverb says - hope for the best, but prepare for the worst," Sirkis wrote to workers. "At this time, when the incident at the national level seems to be getting out of hand, we as management have a double responsibility to increase Israir's survivability. On a personal level, I think it would be unfair to roll out those staying in the IDF from one month to the next. It would not be right to roll the decision for short and restrictive periods. It is right to allow you to organize and economize your steps. "
