CBS: about half of Israelis 46.5% expressed difficulty in covering their expenses

A survey published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) shows that about half of Israelis 46.5% expressed difficulty in covering their expenses even after the closure period, compared to 50.3% during the closure period. In 2019, however, about 30% indicated that they were not so successful or at all unable to cover all the monthly household, food, and telephone expenses.
The figures also show that the proportion of people who reduced the amount of food or meals remained at 14.1%. In addition, 17.4% reported receiving assistance in bringing food, medicine, etc. (compared with 16.2% during the quarantine period), and the proportion of people aged 65 and over who received assistance in bringing food and medicine was 42.4% after the quarantine compared to 45.5% during the quarantine period.
The survey covers the social and economic effects of the outbreak of the corona plague in Israel, with an emphasis on the closure period and the period after its removal - March-May 2020. Some of the data were published in Bezeq surveys conducted in previous months on business conditions and civil resilience during the crisis.
The data shows that in June 2020 the new Consumer Confidence Index plunged to a negative 23%, after improving in May and climbing a negative 14% after a negative 31% in April and 22% in March.
In two of the four balance sheets that make up the index, aggravation was recorded: the balance sheet for the expected change in the state of the country in the coming year dropped to a negative rate of 34%, after a negative rate of 13% in May compared with negative rates of 54% in April and 45% in March, and the balance relating to change The expected economic situation for the household in the coming year stands at a negative 6% rate in June, after climbing 5% in May and indicating cautious optimism after plunging to negative rates of 19% and 15% in April and March respectively.
