Elbit will provide the Swedish army with more than 1,000 non-Lynx software radios in two years. This is a sequel to a deal signed two years ago under which Elbit provides systems for the Swedish Army tactical radio project. The systems will be provided through Elbit Systems' subsidiary in Germany and will include soldier radios and vehicle radios. Elbit e-links software radio is a military radio communication system whose characteristics are defined by software. This means that appropriate software loading on the system determines the "radio language" - the frequency domain, the modulation method, information rates and more. The devices allow the transfer of information through video, audio and text.
The system operates in open architecture, and is used to implement networked warfare in open and built-up areas. Among other things, the company provides similar systems to the IDF, the German army and the Swiss army.
