House prices rose slightly in march and April - the index slipped 0.3%

House prices continued to climb in March-April 2020 despite the Corona crisis - albeit at a moderate rate. According to CBS data, prices rose 0.1% compared to February-March prices, thus completing a 3.5% increase over March-April 2019.
In the segmentation of housing price changes by districts in March 2020-April 2020 compared with February 2020-March 2020, price increases were found in the districts: Haifa and the north (0.4% in both) and Jerusalem (0.3%). In contrast, the Tel Aviv District remained unchanged, while the Central District declined by 0.1% and the Southern District by 0.3%.
The new housing prices index found that their prices rose by 1.7% in March 2020-April 2020 compared to February 2020-March 2020, thus up 2.9% over the same period last year (March 2019-April 2019). The percentage of transactions carried out with government support and participating in the calculation is 33.0% compared to 38.2% in the previous period (February 2020-March 2020).
In the middle of the month, the CBS announced that the CPI fell by 0.3% in May 2020. Notable declines were recorded in fresh vegetables, which fell by 1.5%, by food by 0.9% and furniture and household equipment, and by 0.5%. A notable rise in prices of 5.2% was recorded in the fresh fruits section, since the beginning of the year the CPI has decreased by 0.7%, and in the last twelve months (May 2020 compared with May 2019) the index fell by 1.6%.
