The Israel Post Company announced on Monday that its operations are back to normal after last week's Minister of Communications Yoaz Handel instructed the company to return to full service.
Hours of operation are Sunday, Thursday and Thursday from 08:00 to 20:00, Monday and Wednesday from 08:00 to 13:30 and Friday from 08:00 to 12:00. In addition, some 1,300 parcel delivery centers have returned to activity. The company is also returning the option to book an appointment ahead of time, having stopped it during April. The company continues to follow the Health Ministry's guidelines to prevent congestion and therefore will have up to 10 people in each unit, including the unit's employees.
Israel Post is expected to suffer heavy losses in light of the Corona crisis. It is estimated that the company's revenue from online trading packages has been hit by about 38% since the beginning of the year. As a result, the company is preparing for significant streamlining in the coming months and has even sought assistance from the Treasury and the Ministry of Communications. During the Corona period, the company reduced thousands of overtime to employees. The company's report for the first quarter of 2020 is expected to be released on Thursday.
Danny Goldstein, postal director general of Israel, said: "During the Corona hundreds of private delivery centers were closed and the company was required to provide package delivery solutions also in the postal units and by mail and couriers. In addition, there was a significant drop in the public's arrival at the postal units, with approximately 2 million customers in April and May, a 30% decrease over the same period last year. "
