Treasury Director General Shai Babad announced to Finance Minister Israel Katz that he intends to end his role

Posted on May 11, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Treasury Director General Shai Babad announced to Finance Minister Israel Katz that he intends to end his role with the establishment of the new government and the exchange of ministers. At the request of Minister Katz, it was agreed between the two that the date of the termination of the post of CEO of the Ministry of Finance will be coordinated between the parties below.
Babad's intention to leave the office was known in recent months, but in light of the re-election and the Corona crisis, it was eventually delayed beyond the schedule. The Finance Ministry stated that the Treasury Director General stressed to Minister Katz that he was making his attempt available Israel so that the stick can be done on the best side during this challenging period.
Treasury Director General Shai Babad: "For the past five years, I have been given the greatest privilege of my life to serve the citizens of the State of Israel in one of the most influential and important public service positions. I thank Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon for trusting me and making it possible I have to fulfill my public mission to the best of my ability, and my wife and family for the many years of support without which I would not have been able to perform the job. I also wish Minister Katz a lot of success in the Treasury.
It is not an exception that the CEO retires with the minister who appointed him in the light of a position of trust. Babad was appointed by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon in 2015 and in fact during the first elections in which we all took part, Babad was one of its members, but retired after Elections when not elected to the Knesset This move has criticized the fact that this is a political appointment.
The Treasury's management in recent years, under BABD, has announced the ups and downs of its demand to subordinate the other heads of divisions that operate under the CEOs standard. Which led to the formation of a committee on a subject that ultimately recommended conditions that would ensure that the CEO was not a political appointment but a professional one, but this was not accepted by Kahlon in the end.
In recent months, Babad has become a prominent factor with the Health Ministry's CEO Moshe Barr a good sign who opposed the tough measures to restore the economy and the Ministry of Health's unwillingness to manage risks.
In recent years, and more so in the last year in light of Kahlon's departure from the public arena, BAD has become the prominent face of the Treasury, which has only intensified during the Corona crisis, partly in light of his good relations with Netanyahu.
