Minister of Communications Dudi Amsalem extended his approval to companies for shortening by 2 weeks the hours of serevice of call centers following the Corona crisis. As a result, the companies' centers will continue to work for eight hours instead of 10 a day, until May 17. These are the call centers that deal with inquiries that do not make it difficult to obtain service, theft or loss of end equipment and international roaming service. F example, these centers are dealing with inquiries about overcharging an invoice or logging out of the company.
Some of the companies' frontal centers, which are not located in malls, have returned to partial activity. The other benefits the minister gave to the media companies were not extended. Among other things, on April 26, all types of customer service reporters returned to be obliged to respond to consumers within six minutes, after the Minister of Crisis gave the permit to companies to answer in more than six minutes.
The ministry has withdrawn from a bill that was initiated to prevent competition for mobile subscribers. The bill prohibited the companies from offering offers to customers.
The Ministry of Communications said in a press release that "the decisions were made after deeply considering consumer considerations, and to allow licensees to divert most of their resources at this time to maintain functional continuity and fault correction while maintaining the guidelines issued to the public due to the Corona crisis.
"The decision may reduce the simultaneous stay of workers while shifting shifts, as well as the amount of travel required for public transport.
"The communications ministry's officials intend to hold status assessments in the coming weeks to examine the issue of service centers' activity hours regarding invoice clarification and termination, and accordingly decisions will be made on the issue."
