60-Year-Old Israeli Man Seriously Injured in Qalqilya Shooting - Terrorist Killed During Pursuit

A 60-year-old Israeli man was seriously injured in a shooting attack near a garage in Qalqilya on Monday. The man, who was initially treated at the Dervish Nazal Medical Center in the city, was later transferred to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba after his condition stabilized.
The attacker, identified as Tarek Dawood, wounded the Israeli man along with two other Palestinians during the incident, according to an IDF spokesperson. Dawood attempted to flee the scene but was killed by Brigadier General Ephraim's forces near Azzun after a chase.
Palestinian sources reported that Dawood had been released as part of a previous prisoner exchange deal in November. Since the beginning of the ongoing conflict, around 15 terrorists have been killed in Qalqilya, some of whom had reportedly attempted to establish an organized terrorist group in the city.
Recent Violence in Qalqilya
The shooting comes just months after the murder of Amnon Mokhtar, a resident of Petah Tikva, who was shot and killed in his car in Qalqilya in June. His car was later set on fire, and his driver's license was taken. According to the IDF, Mokhtar, known to local merchants in the city, was targeted for nationalist reasons.
Mokhtar had entered Qalqilya through the Eliyahu Crossing, where there are no checkpoints for those entering the city, although signs in the area warn Israelis against entering Area A, which is under full Palestinian control.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the West Bank and the risks faced by Israelis entering Palestinian-controlled areas.
