The Treasury completed a $ 5 billion government bond issue

The Treasury completed a $ 5 billion government bond issue - the first government bond issue in Asia. It has been a dual offering in Taipei (Taiwan) and London, and is aimed at Asian investors.
The issue, of 40-year bonds denominated in dollars, is made about a month after an issue in the same amount in London, which was the largest government debt issue overseas ever, and for the first time included a 100-year bond. The new one is 3.8% a year.
The two issues, carried out by the Accountant General's Office, are intended to finance the rise in the expected deficit following the Corona crisis - both because of the increase in government spending and the decrease in revenue. Prior to this, in January, $ 3 billion was raised in London as part of the government's regular 10-year and 30-year bond issue.
