The State of Israel will celebrate 72nd Independence Day in a closure

Next week, the State of Israel will celebrate 72nd Independence Day - but hearings between the National Security Ministry and the Ministry of Defense indicate that the ministers will approve Pesach closure. However, it is estimated that the Memorial Day for the victims of Israeli systems and victims of hostilities will not be closed: cemeteries and memorial sites will be open only to symbolic ceremonies, but without the participation of bereaved families. Defense Minister Naftali Bennett recommended to the NSC that on Remembrance Day they should be called to bereaved families not to go to the cemeteries - but to avoid aggressive enforcement to avoid clashes with them.
Meanwhile, the Ministerial Committee on Symbols and Ceremonies, headed by Minister of Culture Miri Regev, today approved a series of changes in the format of state ceremonies in the State of Israel due to the spread of the Corona virus. Among other things, it was decided that a salute to the fallen of Israel's systems and the laying of the national flag on the graves of the space will be held at 11:30 on Sunday at the Herzl Memorial Hall - without the physical presence of the president, prime minister and elected officials and no public.
The State Ceremony for lighting the Memorial Candle for Israel's victims will take place on Monday at 20:00 at the Kotel, attended by the President and the Chief of Staff - without audience and will be broadcast live. Decisions regarding the laying of foreigners will be made shortly after the ceremony.
Also, a "Songs in Memory" event will be held on Monday at 9:15 pm in the Knesset - without a crowd, to be filmed in advance and aired in time, the State Memorial Day Ceremony for Israel's fallen soldiers will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at the Herzl Memorial Hall, without a physical presence of the President, PM and elected officials, without audience and broadcast live.
