Less than a day since the possibility of applying for grants for self-help was opened on the Tax Authority's website: More than 40,000 independents were found eligible for the grant. Yesterday afternoon, after the government's approval and the publication of emergency regulations in the records, the tax authority opened the possibility of filing applications for a self-help grant following the spread of the Corona virus.
Until Friday, 2 p.m. Less than 24 hours since the opportunity to apply for a grant was opened, more than 40,000 self-employed individuals have been eligible for the grant and will see the money in their account this coming Monday - even before Passover.
The Authority also notes that independents who apply for a grant this Sunday will receive the money directly into the bank account before the holiday.
In accordance with the regulations, applications for the grant can be submitted within 70 days of publication in the records (April 2, 2020).
In order to receive the grant, a claim can be filed in a simple procedure, via an online form, in the personal area of ​​the Tax Authority website. The eligibility check and calculation of the grant amount are carried out by the tax authority and presented in the personal area. The grant will be paid to the self-employed after determining eligibility, through the bank account credit.

Once the grant application was opened, yesterday afternoon, the tax authority's site was flooded with tens of thousands of applications. Most businesses that tried to fill out the online form and a minority of them encountered a system message stating "due to multiple inquiries please wait or try later" and when they tried to sign in again.
