The average wage of the new Corona unemployed is 28% lower than the average wage

Posted on Apr 1, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The average wage of the new Corona unemployed is 28% lower than the average wage in the economy, which indicates that most of the new unemployed have a relatively low income.
The unemployment benefit of the new unemployed is expected to be 37% lower than their salary. 40% of them are expected to receive unemployment benefits over a period of 100 working days (4 months) or even less due to discrimination against young people. This is evident from the first analysis of the new cancellation data that the National Insurance Agency first published. The data is based on 550,000 unemployment benefit claimants whose data has already been recorded.
The average wage of unemployed claimants is extremely low and in 2010 stood at only NIS 7,720 compared to the average wage in the economy of NIS 10,800, a 28% gap. The average salary for a man unemployed was NIS 9,300, while the average wage for a woman unemployed was NIS 6,600.
The unemployed are expected to receive only 63% of their wages, ie less than two-thirds. Men will get 61% and women 66%. This is because the percentage of unemployment benefit increases as income is lower. The average loss of income is NIS 3,300: men are NIS 4,300 and women are NIS 2,600.
But that's not the whole problem. 40% of the unemployed are expected to receive unemployment benefits four months or less due to the fact that they are under 35 years old. Of all unemployed persons, 27% who are less than 28 are expected to receive only monthly or two and a half months unemployment benefits.
According to the data, almost half of the new unemployed (49%) are aged 35 and under. 30% are 45 and over and 22% are 35-45. That means one in two new unemployed is young. 300,000, which is 55% of the sharp unemployed, have no children.
