Israeli Melanox acquires Titan which develops network intelligence and security technologies

Posted on Mar 4, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Melanox, which provides connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire private company Titan - which develops network intelligence and security technologies to accelerate search and analysis of big data in data center applications.
The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed, but it is estimated that the volume of the transaction is more than twenty million dollars.
The acquisition will strengthen Melanox's network intelligence capabilities that are currently being made through its advanced products ConnectX and BlueField - smart network cards.
Titan - headquartered in Belfast Northern Ireland and employs 30 engineers - will become the network's advanced research and development center for Melanox. Melanox President and CEO Il Waldman noted that Titan's technology would allow the company to provide cyber security services in data centers, detect data center penetration, detect viruses within the data, and identify and resolve problematic data patterns while transferring data.
He said the two companies have been collaborating for several years and its intellectual property is integrated into Melanox's products. Now Melanox has decided that Titan's technology is central enough to acquire the company. He noted that following Titan's acquisition, Melanox's research and development investments totaled $ 1.3 billion, with $ 53 million of that amount invested in startups to advance the company's smart network strategy.
Titan is engaged in adapting high-speed complex patterns and testing real-time Internet traffic for cyber applications and advanced data analytics. The acceleration engine realized that Titan developed releases processor cores and provides fast throughput and increased efficiency.
Melanox estimates that the ability of the RXP to simultaneously cope with high throughput, depth of rules and complexity complements Melanox's BlueField-based solutions that include fast data networking, storage and crypto accelerators at speeds of up to 200 gigabytes per second.
