The far-right party in France, the "National Union" led by Marine Le Pen, failed in its attempt to obtain an absolute majority in the National Assembly and come to power and came in third place in the general elections - according to the samples published this evening (Sunday) by media in the country. According to the Ipsos Institute, the "National Union" party won 134-152 out of 577 seats in the National Assembly.

In the sample of the Elabe Institute, the party won 115-150 seats. To achieve an absolute majority, the party needed to win 289 seats, but according to the sample, it is very far from it. Following the election results, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, a member of President Emmanuel Macron's party, announced his resignation.
The alliance of left-wing parties, the "New Popular Front" (NPF) which includes extreme leftist Jean-Luc Melanchon, scored a great achievement when it came first with 171-187 seats in the Ipsos sample. In Elabe's sample, the left bloc received 205-178. The center bloc "Ensemble" led by Macron came second with 152-163 seats according to the Ipsos sample. In Elabe's sample, the center received 174-157.
Melanchon said after the publication of the samples that "the election results are a huge relief and the result of a great mobilization effort. The extreme right is far from achieving a majority tonight, on the contrary." Melanchon said it was President Macron's duty to summon the left bloc and let it form the next government. The leader of the alliance of left parties also said that Macron should admit his defeat, and ruled out the possibility of joining the center camp led by the French president.
