Blue and White: Netanyahu must resign from a number of ministerial positions he holds

Posted on Nov 22, 2019 by Ifi Reporter

Following the announcement by the Chief prosecutre and legal advisor of the government Avichai Mandelblit yesterday regarding his decision to file 3 indictments, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu filed Blue-and-white party  called in a letter to Netanyahu and the Attorney General demanding that the prime minister resign from a number of ministerial positions he holds.
In a white-blue letter, it was stated that "according to the Supreme Court's decision to sit as a High Court, a minister who is indicted cannot continue to hold office, and therefore it is incumbent upon you to immediately terminate your various positions as minister of the Israeli government."
Blue and White does not refer to the prime minister, but according to the law, Netanyahu can continue to serve until a judgment is passed against him.
The letter also states: "Without being asked at this stage for a question about your ability to serve as prime minister in light of the statement made by the Attorney General, you have a clear and incomprehensible duty to publish, the judgments given in the Panchasi case and Deri affair that you must immediately resign from all your positions in which you serve." .
The letter is signed by Blue and White lawyers Erin Marinberg and Shimon Brown. The letter states that if Netanyahu fails to comply with the law, they will appeal to the High Court.
Netanyahu is currently serving as the Minister of Health, Welfare, Diaspora and Agriculture and this is beyond his presidency.
