Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned the mandate to the president

After a round of consultations, after which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned the mandate to the president and told him that he could not form a government, senior Likud officials say: Netanyahu is going to battle for consciousness to prevent the formation of a minority government whose purpose is to exclude him from the prime minister's office. President Reuben Rivlin will pass the mandate to Benny Gantz by Thursday at the latest, it may be before then. He plans to do so at an official event as he did with Netanyahu.
Once Gantz receives the mandate, he will have 28 days to form a government by law. The President's House said: "The President of the President's House will announce that a faction seeking to present its position to the President, before imposing MK Gantz's mandate, may do so in accordance with the stipulations of the law, according to which the President is sent three days from the Prime Minister's announcement, MK Netanyahu to Mandate Another MK
