The Arrow 3 system intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen this morning (Sunday), and before the interception alarms were sounded in Eilat and its surroundings.
The launch happened about half a day after the Israeli attack against the Houthis in the port of Hodeida in western Yemen. Earlier, the US military announced that it had intercepted a drone launched by the Houthis over the Red Sea. The US Army stated that the UAV posed an immediate threat to the forces and vessels in the area. The IDF began preparing yesterday for the Houthis' response to the attack on their territory, and increased the deployment of radars and air defense systems. However, the directives of the Home Front Command remained as they were before the attack .
Yesterday evening, Israel attacked targets "in military use by the Houthis" in Hodeidah, after a drone launched by the Houthis exploded in Tel Aviv early Friday morning, killing a civilian. This is the first time that Israel has attacked in Yemen since the beginning of the war, during which the Houthis launched dozens of aircraft and missiles at it.
The Houthis reported that oil and electricity facilities were damaged in the attack, and during the night we updated that three people were killed and at least 87 were injured. The spokesman for the Houthi army, Yahya Sarie, said after the bombing that his forces would not stop the attacks against Israel. "We will also respond accordingly to civilian targets and enemy installations. We declare that the Jaffa area will not be safe," he threatened.
in Yemen, and that it will not allow any party to penetrate its airspace. Although in recent months the US and Britain have combined forces with their allies in an attack on hundreds of Houthi targets in Yemen, a source in the White House said last night that the US was not involved in coordinating the attack - although it was informed by Israel about the attack before it was carried out.
