Kimberly Clark Israel, controlled by Kimberly International, the manufacturer of Huggies, Kleenex and paper products for the home, will expand its activity in Israel. The company plans to build a new plant with a huge investment estimated at NIS 300-400 million, in the new industrial zone in Gilboa.
The Company plans to concentrate the production of paper products in the new plant. For this purpose, the Company was allocated an area of 64 dunams in Gilboa. The company intends to employ about 450 workers in the innovative plant.
Kimberly Clark is Israel's leading manufacturer of consumables and holds 3% of all consumer goods in StoreNext. Among its well-known brands are diapers, Nicole, Coctex and others. Kimberly International is traded on the New York Stock Exchange at a company value of $ 47 billion, and its sales turnover is $ 18 billion.
In 2015, Kimberly-Clark acquired full ownership of the company, which employs 1,200 workers in Israel. The company will benefit from state grants of about 20% of the investment, because it is a development area. The establishment of the plant will take several years and will be the task of the newly appointed CEO - Tal Raban, former CEO of Tara.
In 2018, the global company was forced to cut 5,000 jobs, about 13% of its global workforce. Kimberly Israel has been criticized in the past for urgent increases in the prices of its paper products and a reduction in some of the packages, according to its claim, due to the sharp rise in global pulp prices and the raw material for the paper industry.
"We are constantly examining the expansion of business activity in Israel, but we do not respond to rumors regarding future business activity," said Kimberly Israel.
