Rhoda Smolow was elected the 27th president of Hadassah organization

Hadassah, the Zionist Women's Organization of America, announced that Rhoda Smolow was elected president of the new organization, as part of the organization's general meeting held in New York today. Smolow is the 27th president of the organization, founded 107 years ago and has some 300,000 members, partners and supporters, and will take office on January 1, 2020. Ellen Hershkin, who served as its president for the last four years, will end her term at the end of the year.
Smuolow will continue to lead the organization in its public health and education activities, with an emphasis on leading breakthrough medical research and life-saving treatments through the Hadassah-Ein Karem and Hadassah Mount Scopus hospitals in Jerusalem.
The outgoing president, Ellen Hershkin, who led the organization since 2016 led the implementation of the recovery agreement signed between the Hadassah Women's Organization, the Government of Israel and the Hadassah Medical Center, while supporting issues of national importance. During her four years in office, she led significant projects in Hadassah hospitals, for which hundreds of millions of dollars were raised. Among the important projects: the completion of the Davidson Hospital Tower and the opening of a heart health center at Hadassah Ein Karem, the Rehabilitation Center and the establishment of new maternity rooms at Hadassah Mount Scopus.
