Hamas published documentation of Nadav Poplewell, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim

Hamas published documentation of Nadav Poplewell, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim. Popplewell, 51 years old, was taken to Gaza with his mother Hana Perry, and she was released in the hostage deal about six months ago. His brother Roy was murdered on the day of the massacre.

In the short video that was published, he identifies himself by name, and looks bruised in one of his eyes. The army estimates that this is an old video that was taken at an earlier stage of the war - when Popplewell was recorded with the injury to his eye - and was distributed as part of Hamas's psychological terror. The headquarters of the families of the abductees said that Popplewell's family asked not to publish the video.
Poplewell was born in Kibbutz Nirim, and is the brother of Roy and Ayelet. Their mother Hana immigrated to Israel from South Africa and in a kibbutz she met the father who was a new immigrant from England. Nadav worked until the war in Sderot as a computer technician, and was a fan of science fiction literature and bridge. On October 7, the terrorists raided the hospital where Nadav and his mother were staying, and the two were kidnapped.
