Cybersecurity Giant Cyber Wiz Raises Record-Breaking $1 Billion in Funding

Posted on May 7, 2024 by Ifi Reporter

Cybersecurity firm Cyber Wiz (WIZ) has made headlines with its recent fundraising round, securing an impressive $1 billion at a valuation of $12 billion. The fundraising effort included a secondary component of tens of millions of dollars, led by prominent American investment funds Andreesen Horowitz, Lightspeed Ventures Partners, and Thrive Capital. Notably, existing investors, including Greylock and Wellington Management, also participated in the round.

Since its inception in 2020, Wiz has amassed a total of $1.9 billion in funding. This latest round marks a significant milestone for the company, following a previous fundraising effort in February 2023, where Wiz raised $300 million at a valuation of $10 billion.

Wiz's CEO, Assaf Rappaport, foresees 2024 as the "year of consolidation" in the cybersecurity industry. The company has been proactive in this regard, announcing acquisitions such as Gem Security in April and Raftt in December to bolster its cloud application security platform (CNAPP). Despite unsuccessful attempts to acquire Sentinel One and Lysork, Wiz remains focused on expansion and innovation.

In 2023, Wiz emerged as the fastest-growing software company globally, achieving a sales volume of $350 million and an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $100 million within just 18 months of launching its products. To further drive growth, the company appointed Dali Rajak, former COO and President of Zyskyler, as President and COO.

Rappaport emphasized the company's commitment to customer-centric innovation, aiming to provide value to security and development teams. The latest funding round will fuel Wiz's efforts to address complex challenges in cloud security and support organizations in streamlining their security toolsets.

Cyber Wiz's remarkable fundraising success underscores its position as a leader in the cybersecurity industry, poised to shape the future of cloud security and digital protection.
