Electra Group Secures Lucrative Contract for JFK Airport Terminal 1 Lighting System Construction

Posted on May 3, 2024 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Expanding its foothold in the United States, Electra Group has announced a significant milestone as its subsidiary, Gilston (51% owned), clinched a subcontracting deal for the construction of the lighting system in the forthcoming Terminal 1 at JFK Airport in New York. The lucrative contract, valued at 98 million dollars (approximately 370 million shekels), marks a substantial leap in Electra's American ventures.

Gilston, entrusted as the subcontractor by the primary project contractor, American infrastructure giant AECOM, is poised to commence work immediately. The project, encompassing the installation of approximately 30 thousand lighting fixtures and complementary electrical systems, is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2026. The newly minted terminal, spanning an impressive 230 thousand square meters, is primed to redefine the airport's infrastructure landscape upon its unveiling.

The selection of Gilston by AECOM, a renowned entity traded on the New York Stock Exchange with a market value approximating 12.5 billion dollars, underscores Electra's prowess and reliability in the construction domain.

Electra Group, under the aegis of Elco Holdings, initiated its foray into the US market in 2019 through the acquisition of Hellman Electric and Gilston Electrical. With decades of operational experience in the New York region, both companies have solidified their reputation for excellence in electrical services for governmental entities and corporate entities alike.

As Electra Group continues to solidify its presence in the American market, the awarding of this prestigious contract at JFK Airport underscores its commitment to delivering exceptional infrastructure solutions on a global scale.
