Posted on Mar 21, 2024 by Ifi Reporter
Israel Railways has announced an extensive expansion of its services, coinciding with the reopening of the Sderot station. Commencing Saturday night, March 30, 2024, night trains will operate throughout the night with a frequency of one train per hour in both directions, linking key stations from Nahariya to Netavg.
Passengers traveling to and from Jerusalem's Yitzhak Navon station during nighttime hours can seamlessly transfer at Tel Aviv Savidor Merkaz station, facilitating travel to destinations in the north.
Moreover, for the first time during the conflict, train services will resume at Sderot, Nativot, and Ofakim stations on Fridays and Saturday evenings. Weekday operations will also witness extended hours, concluding at approximately 10:30 p.m. Passengers from these stations will benefit from improved change times at Beer Sheva Center station, ensuring smoother transitions to various destinations across the country, with exchange times reduced to 8-10 minutes during peak hours.
In response to commuter needs, the start times of activities at Ashkelon station will be advanced, with the first northbound train departing at 4:58 a.m. Additionally, the frequency of trains between the central region and Ashkelon will be bolstered during evening peak hours, providing commuters with three trains per hour between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Furthermore, in alignment with daylight saving time adjustments, the end and start times of railway operations will be updated on Fridays and Saturdays, with train services ceasing by approximately 5:00 p.m. on Fridays and commencing at around 10:00 p.m. tonight.
This expansion marks a significant step towards restoring normalcy in public transportation and fostering connectivity across Israel's regions.
