in settlements surrounding Gaza the educational institutions will be reopening
Posted on Feb 1, 2024 by Ifi Reporter
Security restrictions in settlements surrounding Gaza have been relaxed from 18:00, allowing for the reopening of educational institutions and expanded gatherings in the area. This change in defense policy, supported by senior members of the defense establishment and regional council heads, aims to encourage residents to return home.
Under the revised guidelines for the Otaf region, gatherings of up to 100 people in open areas and 300 in closed structures are now permitted, doubling the previous limits. However, ten localities—Nirim, Kerem Shalom, Nir Oz, Kissufim, Ein HaSlosha, Sufa, Holit, Netiv Hatara, Kfar Gaza, and Nahal Oz—remain excluded from this decision.
The Home Front Command has granted permission for the reopening of educational institutions in the area. However, the decision to send students to these institutions will be at the discretion of parents. Concerns arise regarding sufficient staffing in educational facilities, prompting the IDF's preparation to deploy female soldiers to teach in elementary schools. The question of who will fill the vacancies in the secondary education system remains unanswered.
