Government Approves NIS 9 Billion Aid Program for Reservists in 2024 Budget
Posted on Jan 7, 2024 by Ifi Reporter
The government has given the green light to a comprehensive aid program for reservists, amounting to NIS 9 billion. While parts of the plan await final approval in the 2024 budget, immediate measures set to take effect include grants totaling NIS 1.5 billion. Additionally, a compensation plan of NIS 200 million specifically for self-employed reservists has been sanctioned from the Ministry of Defense fund, distinct from the general compensation plan funded by property tax compensation.
This multifaceted program will unfold in three phases, with the first phase already underway. Under the current pulse, NIS 1.5 billion has been earmarked for horizontal and family grants covering November and December. Reservists with families stand to receive grants of up to NIS 3,900. Notably, parents of children with special needs, business consulting, an expanded compensation of a minimum of 300 shekels per day for fighters, and the continuation of ongoing military operations have all been included in the approved plan.
With the convening of the government to endorse the 2024 budget, the program advances into its second phase. This stage introduces a family-wide grant for January, an innovative response to unemployment and unemployment benefits, an extension of maternity leave for spouses, and enhanced emotional and family support.
The third and final phase promises a range of benefits, including an IAM grant (a monthly graduated grant of approximately 4,500), a rear reserve grant, family leave, compensation for social conditions paid to employers, a home economics grant, tuition fee coverage for students, and the extension of special rewards beyond the 60th day of reserve service for all servicemen and women.
This comprehensive aid program underscores the government's commitment to supporting reservists and their families, addressing various aspects of their needs and providing financial relief during their dedicated service to the nation.
