Surprise: Visa Exemption for Israeli Citizens to Begin Friday
Posted on Oct 19, 2023 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski
In a surprise development, the United States has announced that the long-awaited visa exemption for Israeli citizens will take effect earlier than initially planned.
Originally scheduled for November 30, the process was expedited under pressure from Congress. This decision comes following delays caused by security concerns at the US Embassy in Israel, which were exacerbated by the recent Hamas attack in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Embassy in Washington has provided details of the new travel procedure. Israeli citizens with biometric passports will have the opportunity to travel to the United States without a visa. However, they must register their trip 72 hours in advance and pay a fee of $21. The visa exemption will be valid for a period of two years, during which Israeli travelers can stay in the US for up to 90 days.
This significant development aims to streamline the entry process for Israeli citizens visiting the United States and strengthen the ties between the two nations. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
