The Ministry of Transportation has announced a significant adjustment to the urban public transportation service in Jerusalem, set to take effect on Monday. This move comes in response to prevailing security concerns and operational considerations.
The Ministry stated that potential disruptions to the service may occur, contingent upon the findings of drivers, their operational capacity in the field, and the allocation of buses and drivers to support security forces.
Here are the key changes:
Egged Bus Lines: All Egged bus lines will experience reduced service frequencies, with buses scheduled to run every half hour to 40 minutes.
Superbus Company: Urban lines 504, 531, 506, 49, 136, 163, 2, 517, 92, 97, 580, and 90 operated by the Superbus company will not be in service. Additionally, other lines will operate with a lower frequency of one bus every half hour, including lines 38, 82, 83, 74, 75, 91, 77, 78, 31, 62, 71, 72, and 516.
Extra Bus Company: The Extra bus company will suspend service on lines 61, 81, 85, 86, and 541. Other lines will run less frequently, with buses scheduled to depart every half hour, including lines 3, 25, 36, 45, 56, 59, 69, and 89.
This adjustment in public transportation services underscores the Ministry of Transportation's commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of residents and commuters in Jerusalem. It is advisable for passengers to plan their journeys accordingly, taking into account the reduced service frequencies and potential disruptions during this period.
