Binyamin Netanyahu will be undergoing a medical procedure to implant a pacemaker at Sheba Hospital

Posted on Jul 22, 2023 by Ifi Reporter

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will be undergoing a medical procedure to implant a pacemaker at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer. The decision comes just before a crucial vote on the cancellation of the probable cause and a week after he was taken to the hospital due to feeling unwell.

In a message delivered on his behalf after midnight, Prime Minister Netanyahu reassured the public, stating, "I feel great." However, the procedure is considered significant, and he will be going through it in obscurity.

As a precautionary measure during his medical absence, the ministers held an urgent night vote to appoint Minister Yariv Levin as the temporary replacement for the Prime Minister until the completion of the procedure. Levin expressed his well-wishes for Netanyahu's speedy recovery, stating, "Together with you, I wish a complete and speedy recovery for the Prime Minister."

The decision to perform the medical procedure was prompted by an abnormal indication received earlier in the evening from a cardiac monitoring device, specifically a subcutaneous Holter, which had been implanted in Netanyahu's body the previous Sunday. The procedure to implant the pacemaker will be conducted by Prof. Roi Beinert, the director of the Davidei Center for Arrhythmias and Pacemakers, along with Prof. Eyal Nof, the director of the invasive electrophysiology service at Sheba Hospital.

The entire nation joins together in wishing Prime Minister Netanyahu a successful procedure and a swift recovery during this critical time. Updates on his condition will be closely monitored as the situation unfolds.
