Elbit Systems has secured a contract worth $150 million to supply artillery systems to an undisclosed international customer. The contract spans a period of three years and includes the delivery of PULS rocket launchers and a package of long-range precision rockets.
The PULS system, developed by Elbit Systems' subsidiary IAS, is designed to launch artillery rockets. It consists of a launcher, a navigation system, and a fire control system. Previously, the PULS system had only been supplied to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Azerbaijan Army. This contract marks its expansion to an international market. The PULS system enables the firing of both regular and guided rockets, with homing kits installed on the rockets. It supports a firing range of 12-300 km and is compatible with both stationary and mobile platforms, providing cost savings in terms of maintenance and training expenses. The PULS system can also accommodate next-generation technologies, such as the launch of roving munitions, including Elbit Systems' "Shrekrak" launched from a cane box.
Elbit Systems' order backlog, as of the end of the first quarter of 2023, reached $15.8 billion, showing growth compared to the $15.1 billion backlog recorded at the end of 2022. This indicates an increase in the ratio between orders and sales, rising from 1.25 in the fourth quarter of 2022 to 1.5 in the first quarter of 2023. This growth in the order backlog suggests an acceleration in the company's growth expected in the second half of 2023.
