A decrease in the average wage in the economy in October prevented an even greater increase in the salaries of senior executives, the minimum wage and the National Insurance benefits. Data published today (Wed) by the Central Bureau of Statistics reveal that the average salary in Israel in October 2022 was NIS 11,443 gross per month for all employees, compared to NIS 11,873 in September and NIS 11,875 in August of this year. The data for the three months August-September each year determine the amount of the senior salary increase and allowances in January, and the amount of the minimum wage increase in April.
According to the data, the average wage for Israeli workers was NIS 11,809 in October 2022, 4.3% higher than in the corresponding month in 2021, when it was NIS 11,324. The reason for this is wage increases that have been in the economy in the past year and the unwillingness of low-wage workers to return to their workplaces during the corona crisis.
From the data it becomes clear that during the holidays the salary of the Israeli workers and the foreign workers decreased: in the month of October, the salary of the Israelis was NIS 11,809 on average and in September it was NIS 12,241. The salary of the foreign workers was NIS 7,329 in October and NIS 7,645 in September.
The average salary decreased in October - slightly mitigating the jump in the salaries of MKs and senior officials
For the Social Security Administration: the average salary in October dropped to NIS 11,443 compared to approximately NIS 11,870 in August and September, which prevented an even greater jump of 12.5% in the salary of senior officials in the public service as well as in the minimum wage and allowances. In Hi-Tech: the average salary continued to fall to 27,188, number of jobs The rent actually increased surprisingly by 0.2% compared to September.

In actions and not in words: the governor conveyed a clear message to the new government.
The average salary for a salaried position at fixed prices (deducted by the monthly consumer price index) was NIS 10,413, a decrease of 0.8% compared to October 2021 (NIS 10,492) - which indicates the erosion of Israelis' purchasing power in the shadow of inflation.
In the high-tech sector, the average wage per employee position in October 2022 was NIS 27,188, an increase of 4.4% compared to October 2021, but the downward trend continued in recent months, compared to NIS 27,511 in September and NIS 27,880 in August. Employees of the scientific research and development branch NIS 30,492, programming and consulting employees in the field of computers NIS 28,712.
The average salary according to which the salary of senior executives, disability allowances and the minimum wage is determined is affected by the jump in the average salary in August-October this year compared to the average salary in those months in 2020, before the freeze, according to which it is a jump of 12.5%.
Because of this, the minimum wage will increase starting with the salary for the coming month of April, since according to the law, the minimum wage is linked to at least 47.5% of the average wage determined according to section 1, therefore it will increase by NIS 272, and will be NIS 5,572 instead of NIS 5,300. It should be noted that according to the "package deal", which was signed by the heads of the Ministry of Finance, the business sector and the Histadrut almost a year ago but was not implemented, the minimum wage was supposed to increase already in the spring of last year by NIS 100 per month.
The third meaning is the updating of the disability allowances, and this according to the linkage to the average salary determined according to section 2 of the National Insurance Law. The increase in this salary was also about 12.5%, but the attached allowances will increase by 9.82%, this is due to the agreement with the organizations of the disabled with the Ministry of Finance, that the difference will be directed in favor of expanding entitlements in the disability allowance.
