Dan Transport company signed its first purchase agreement outside Israel's borders. Dan acquires the Portuguese TST, which operates bus service lines in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon.
The partner for the purchase is the Spanish Moventia, which operates a light rail line in Barcelona. The total transaction is 83 million euros. Dan will hold 51% of the company's shares, and Mobentia 49%.
Mobentia is part of a group, including Dan, which is currently competing for a NIS 14 billion tender for the construction and operation of the blue line of the light rail in Jerusalem. In addition, Dan and Mobentia are partners in the group competing for a tender of NIS 4 billion for the construction and operation of the light rail between Haifa and the Galilee landscape.
TST owns a fleet of 339 buses. It employs 800 workers, most of whom are drivers. The company owns three parking lots and garages with an area of 30 thousand square meters.
The agreement between Dan and Movantia completes the deal to purchase TST from the transportation giant Arriva, which is owned by Germany's national railway company, Deutsche Bahn. Dan announced this deal in April. The CEO of Dan, Ofir Karni, said that the relationship with the Spanish Mobentia is expected to be strengthened soon through the purchase of additional companies in Spain.
