cost of living also have a negative effect on the activities of the association: there is a 5% decrease in the volume of donations in the last year

The economic situation and the cost of living also have a negative effect on the activities of the associations. This is evident in the 5% decrease in the volume of donations in the last year - and these amounted to NIS 23 billion. From the report of the Atlas company, which is a philanthropic intelligence platform for non-profit organizations.
There are 37,000 registered associations operating in Israel, of which 10,000 are active. Of the 23 billion shekels raised, 13 billion shekels came from Israel (3 billion shekels from grants from Israeli foundations and 10 billion shekels from donations from individuals and businesses) and 10 billion shekels from abroad. 25% of the donations to non-profit organizations in Israel are in the fields of education, 25% to religious institutions, 20% for welfare organizations, and 30% in areas such as health, sports, culture, the environment and individual soldiers.
40% of the donations from abroad were directed to welfare organizations, 20% to non-profit organizations in the fields of education and research, 20% to religious organizations and 20% to other fields. 30% of the non-profit organizations were severely damaged during the Corona period, and some of them stopped operating. Donations from abroad then decreased by 15% . On the other hand, the corona virus benefited associations in the health sector, which raised much more money than in previous years.
Shlomi Turgeman, CEO of the Atlas company, estimates that 2023 will be an even more difficult year for fundraising for non-profit organizations than during the Corona period. "The difficult situation in the business sector in the last year, the waves of layoffs in high-tech and technology companies, and the decline in the stock market will make it difficult to raise funds," says Turgeman .
There are 10 million non-profit organizations operating in the world, of which 2 million are in the US. 260 thousand philanthropic funds finance the non-profit organizations, which manage 1.6 trillion dollars.
