Transportation experts say we may face many more hours in traffic every day

Israel is taking giant steps towards a transportation catastrophe. Transportation experts say we may face many more hours in traffic every day. Even so, we're stuck in traffic jams, but it's only going to get worse.

Everyone talks about the traffic jams that are getting longer and longer, but the problem is that we all contribute to it - it is much more convenient for each of us to travel in our own car, without considering others who use the road - but the price is very high: we stand much longer in traffic jams. This is how it is when there is usually one passenger in each vehicle (an average of 1.2 people per vehicle in Israel)
The only solution that can really solve the transportation problems here in Israel is congestion fees - that is, paying for the right to use the public resource called roads. Only this will take loads off the roads. Just improving public transportation is nice, but it won't solve the problem. Everyone has been saying for years that more and more public transportation is needed - but the fact is that more is being invested and that does not solve the problem. In any case, don't worry, since the traffic jams will disappear, this will improve public transportation wonderfully and make it an excellent alternative, even for residents of the periphery who will be able to reach the city centers much more easily).
But the truth is that there is simply no other choice: according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2021 the volume of road travel increased by 16% compared to the year of the Corona virus and by 1.3% compared to the peak of 2019. The number of cars on the roads doubled in 20 years, and the total travel increased by -75% The numbers show a total travel volume of 64 billion kilometers last year compared to 55 billion in 2020 and 63.2 billion in 2019.
