Israel Railways will renew night trains service from January from Haifa to Ben-Gurion airport

Starting this January, Israel Railways will reduce the electrification work on the track between Tel Aviv and Haifa, so that diesel trains can travel to the north on a limited basis from Sunday to Thursday until midnight and on Fridays until the beginning of Shabbat.
In the last two years, the trains to Haifa stop running from Sunday to Thursday at 21:00 - and on Fridays and Saturday evenings they do not run at all. The reason for the disruptions is the works to electrify the tracks, which are carried out at night and on weekends.
In January, the electrification of the rail section between Tel Aviv and Binyamina will be completed, and the Ministry of Transportation and the railway have decided to slow down the pace of work between Binyamina and Haifa so that on Sundays through Thursdays until midnight and on Fridays until Shabbat, work will only take place on one of two tracks. This will allow diesel trains to travel to Haifa on the free track. On Saturday night, train traffic will not be restored, and work will continue on both tracks.
Since on Sundays through Thursdays in the late evening and on Fridays, the trips will only be made on one track, the frequency of the trains will be limited and breakdowns are expected. "It won't be the best service in the world," the train admits.
