IDF announced a local tactical pause in military activity in the southern Gaza Strip

Posted on Jun 16, 2024 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The IDF announced on Sunday a local tactical pause in the military activity in the southern Gaza Strip, on the road leading from Kerem Shalom to the Saladin road and to the north, which will take place from now on every day between the hours of 08:00 in the morning and 7:00 p.m. This, to increase the scope of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip.
The decision on the move, which already began yesterday, was determined following discussions held on the issue with the United Nations, as well as with other international organizations. Also, the truce comes following the IDF's takeover of the Rafah crossing, as a result of which the volume of goods passing through the Kerem crossing increased significantly Hello.
Also, the move takes place after the Egyptians' opposition to the transfer of goods through Israeli inspection was expressed last week, who finally gave in to the pressure and agreed to the transfer of goods to the Gaza Strip in this way. However, in return, and following the growing American pressure, Israel decided to create a ceasefire in the fighting to prevent, as mentioned, the possibility of harming the aid forces.
"This step is added to the humanitarian measures that have been taken since the beginning of the war, the IDF will continue to support the humanitarian effort on the ground," the IDF said later in the announcement.
