The prices of unsupervised bread will rise: Berman and Deganit Ein Bar bakeriesraise 8% to 15%

The prices of unsupervised bread will rise: The Berman and Deganit Ein Bar bakeries have informed the retail chains of a price increase of 8% to 15% in specialty bread, the price of which is not monitored by the state. Buns and pitas will not get more expensive in the meantime.
These include whole-wheat bread, light bread, rye bread, bread with dietary fiber and other types, which are currently sold to consumers for NIS 20-10. For comparison, the prices of types of bread whose prices are monitored by the state range from NIS 3.92 to NIS 7.11 per 750 grams.
The bakeries that announced the price increase are two of the largest bakeries in Israel, out of the three bakeries that control the market. Angel Bakery has not yet issued a similar announcement. Berman recently won a tender to supply bread to IDF bases.
According to the bakeries, they are losing money on the sale of supervised bread due to the rise in wheat prices by 60%, and in addition the flour mills have recently raised prices. The state plans to increase the price of supervised bread by about 8%, but at the moment it seems that no minister wants to sign the increase in prices.
In May, the Joint Price Committee for the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance recommended removing uniform bread, white bread and challah from price controls, and moving to reporting to producers on prices and profitability. The manufacturers have announced that they will increase the price of bread if it goes out of control, so that the result will be a tens of percent increase in prices. The ministers of economy and finance did not accept the recommendation.
