Minister of Welfare, Meir Cohen, has decided to appoint Yuval Elbashan as the next CEO of the National Insurance Institute

The Minister of Welfare, Meir Cohen, has decided to appoint Yuval Elbashan as the next CEO of the National Insurance Institute.
Albashan was previously dean of the Faculty of Law at the Ono Academic Campus, with the rank of Associate Professor (full-time, and without a doctorate). Regarding the decision to appoint him, a source close to the National Insurance Institute says: "This is a quantum leap of a person who did not manage people or a budget, to one of the most important positions in Israel."
However, the decision to appoint him is not surprising - after Cohen's party, Yesh Atid, has promoted the appointment in recent months. Albashan was one of the three finalists for the position, who was interviewed by Cohen and by the job search committee. Cohen's request to approve the appointment was forwarded to the committee without the other two candidates - Yael Mevorach and Reuven Kaplan and Yuval Albashan - being notified that they had not been selected.
Unlike Mevorach and Kaplan, Albashan is not experienced in working with the Ministry of Finance. After serving as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Ono Academic Campus, an academic rather than managerial position, he moved on to serve as the director of the social campuses of the Academic Campus. These days he is known to the public mainly thanks to a radio show he presents on Friday mornings along with Emily Amroussi.
Until recently, Mevorach was the director-general of the Ministry of Social Equality and formerly deputy director of budgets at the Ministry of Finance, and Kaplan was the former director-general of Amidar and the director-general of Psagot Investment House. Big and big budgets and he is the son of Avigdor Kaplan, who was the director-general of the Ministry of Welfare until half a year ago.
The current CEO of the National Insurance Institute, Meir Spiegler, is to be appointed CEO of the Electric Company. About a week before Passover, the search committee convened, which included members of the director-general of the Ministry of Welfare, Sigal Moran (chairman of the committee), Ravit Gross (representative of the employers), and Ofir Alkalay (director-general of the Histadrut). Refused to transmit the minutes of the committee's deliberations.
