70 Israeli high-tech people participated in the launch event of the Code4Ukraine project for the voluntary development of technologies that will assist in the absorption and treatment of refugees from Ukraine.
The project is an initiative of Elia Livshitz, a group manager at the Israeli high-tech company Guesty, which employs 50 developers in Ukraine, who decided to harness guest people and developers from other companies to put their talents and abilities to lighten Ukrainian refugees at this time.

The project involves developers from Israel, Israelis from Berlin and Ukrainian high-tech people who are currently refugees.
Project participants were divided into working groups and presented the developments they are working on. The first place went to the "Friends In Israel" group, which is developing an app to connect new immigrants with families of Israelis in order to make it easier for them to integrate into Israeli society. The application will facilitate, among other things, the integration of refugee children in appropriate educational institutions in Israel.
Second place went to a group led by Alyssa Wisoki, a high-tech woman who has now left Ukraine and is setting up the SAFEWAY platform that will connect volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian women in order to link them to social organizations in the places they travel to. The platform will enable bilateral dialogue and aims to create a safe environment for women and prevent situations of exploitation of women.
Other developments participating in the project are intended for the mental relief of refugees who are in a state of anxiety, finding housing, assistance in transporting equipment, making donations to Ukrainians, software for locating aid organizations and making information accessible to refugees for the purpose of exercising their rights.
Amiad Soto, CEO of Gasti: “We are proud of Elia’s initiative and the broad mobilization of developers to find solutions to help Ukrainians during this difficult time. As a company with a central part of its development system located in Ukraine, we have been mobilizing to help our employees from the very first moment. We are happy to expand the possibilities for assistance to the millions of refugees now scattered around the world. "
The project was joined by the high-tech company Kaltura, Salesforce, Sid Israel - the Association for International Development, the Israeli Council for Volunteering. According to Zohar Babin, EVP Platform, Kaltura: "Israeli high-tech has proven itself in solving complex problems in various fields. We are happy to harness the existing knowledge and skills in Israeli high-tech companies for such an important goal, so that our common ability can facilitate support for millions of Ukrainian refugees. One found themselves having to deal with many critical difficulties."
