The Israeli gaming company Overwolf has announced the acquisition of the British company Tebex

Posted on Mar 15, 2022 by Ifi Reporter

The Israeli gaming company Overwolf has announced the acquisition of Tebex, a platform that allows content creators to monetize private game servers, for $ 29 million.
Tobacco provides a comprehensive solution for game companies and creators who want to monetize private game servers: from opening the stores and managing them within the servers to the mode of receiving payment.

The solution offered by the company currently serves 12 games, including titles like Minecraft, ARK: Survival Evolved and Rust. From the moment Tabax was founded until today, its monetization platform has supported creators and helped them earn over $ 500 million. Of this amount, in December 2021 alone, the creators earned about $ 10.5 million.
This acquisition heralds the entry of Overwolf into a new category of content creators: creators who build, own private servers. Beyond entering this field, the move is synergistic in nature with CurseForge Core - the built-in thanks service offered by Overwolf to gaming companies. Tobacco will continue to operate as a business unit within Overwolf, and all of its activities with its existing customers will continue as usual - from maintaining the platform, to including and developing new ideas for it.

"From the moment we first met the Oberwolf team, two things were particularly noticeable: their dedication to the user-generated content market (UGC), and the effort they put into making sure the content creators get paid for their hard work. Our joining Overwolf allows Tabax to expand its operations and reach more game servers and more gaming companies, and most importantly - continue to develop the communities of existing game servers. "Their commitment to helping us develop the gaming server industry is what will push Tobacco and move it to its next stage of development," said McNeil, CEO of Tobacco.
Tobacco shares with us the ongoing commitment to identifying ways to support player communities and game companies that want to give content creators the opportunity to build within games. "The industry's operation. Overwolf's operation, which takes the industry forward, along with the technology of Tobacco and their energetic and purposeful staff - will help us reach many more creators and enable them to generate a respectable income for their work," said Uri Marshand, CEO of Oberwolf
