The Council for Higher Education approved: The Open University will open a postgraduate study program

Posted on Feb 22, 2022 by Ifi Reporter

The Council for Higher Education approved the request of the Open University to open a postgraduate study program in the field of education. In January 2021 the university received approval in principle to open the course of study, but only subject to the recommendations of an international committee of experts set up by the MLAG. The committee examined the university curriculum and recommended its opening, and today the MLAG finally approved the decision.
The university plans to open the curriculum for about five students in the next academic year, who will study for a PhD in education technologies and learning systems, one of the university's areas of specialization that allows students to study remotely. And will be the first program offered by the university in the postgraduate track, when to date it was the only one of the universities in the country that could not pursue postgraduate studies.
According to Prof. Mimi Eisenstadt, president of the Open University, the program is aimed at educators who want to specialize in online learning. "The program addresses the challenges we have known in the past two years as well as future challenges facing the education system and academia in Israel," Eisenstadt said.
The Open University allows students to study for academic degrees at a distance, even if they do not meet the admission requirements for other universities. The postgraduate postgraduate training track will be conducted in a manner similar to that existing at other universities, and admission requirements will be strict
