The Gold Bond Group, which operates a free cargo and warehouse terminal in Ashdod and owns the Israel Shipyards, today announced to the stock exchange a cyber attack that shut down the company's computers and as a result a large part of its operations. According to the company announcement, disruptions that started at night were apparently identified as a foreign factor infiltrating its systems.
According to what is known at this stage, the company estimates that this is not a ransomware attack, but a deliberate attempt to disrupt the company's activities and possibly even steal information from its systems. The company stressed that they were not required to pay a ransom. The company also said that it is working with the cyber system to thwart the incident.
At this time most of the Gold Bond computer systems are completely disabled. It is still unclear how this affects the day - to - day operations of the company. The handling of detection and thwarting the intrusion will probably also require the continued disabling of its computers.
