Tens of thousands of business owners and the self-employed will have to repay the grants they received during the Corona crisis even though they were not entitled to them. The High Court ruled. He rejected a petition from businessmen who received the funds. The judges considered the petitioners and did not charge them with court costs.
The petition to the court was submitted by an association that works to reduce social disparities.

The petition filed against the Minister of Finance, the Tax Authority and the Finance and Economy Committees of the Knesset. The tax authority is demanding that thousands of business owners and the self-employed return billions of shekels to the state coffers, after they were given a question even though their business turnover did not decrease by the required rates - 25% and 40% as determined during the corona crisis. To date, about a billion shekels have been returned by self-employed people who received grants and reimbursement of expenses. 48,000 business owners have already confirmed that they received grants that they did not deserve, in the amount of NIS 1.2 billion. However, the tax authority estimates the amounts obtained illegally at additional billions of shekels.
At the end of December, the Tax Authority approved a three-month postponement until March 31 this year in the refund of illegally granted grants and now they will have to return the grants by the set date.
