The average wage in the economy continues to fall, and in October it reached NIS 11,277 per month - a decrease of 2.6% compared to October 2020. This, after an unusual increase during the crisis, following the dismissal of relatively low-wage workers. This is according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The recovery from the crisis leads to an increase in the number of employed persons in the economy, and as a result, the average wage returns to reasonable levels. However, this is still a 7% increase in wages compared to October 2019.
The recovery in the fact market is evident in the number of employee jobs in the economy, according to administrative data from the National Insurance Institute. In October, there were 3.76 million employee jobs in Israel. This is an increase of 21.1% compared to October 2020. However, the volume of jobs is still slightly lower compared to the period before the crisis: in February 2020, the number of jobs reached 3.78 million.
While the average wage in the economy is declining, the average wage in high-tech jumped by 8.1% compared to last October and October 2020, reaching NIS 25.8 thousand per month. The background is of course the high demand for workers in this industry. The number of employees in the high-tech industry has jumped by more than 10% since October 2020.
