Elbit Systems won a $ 53 million contract to supply systems for the UAE Air Force

Elbit Systems has developed the DIRCM systems - known as the Sky Shield - laser systems against the most advanced missiles of its kind in the world. The system detects the firing of a shoulder-fired missile at the aircraft and launches a laser beam that neutralizes the missile. The beam is launched to the top of the missile and deflects it from the aircraft. Four cameras provide 360-degree coverage, detect the launch and aim the laser beam at the top of the missile and keep it away from the aircraft by disrupting the missile's tracking.
