The Bank of Israel today (Monday) launched a new and special tribute to the medical teams in Israel, in the presence of the President of the State, Yitzhak Herzog, the Governor of the Bank of Israel, Prof. Amir Yaron, and the Minister of Health, Mr. Nitzan Horowitz.
 The coin is dedicated to the medical and health care system in Israel for their contribution and struggle for the lives and health of the country's citizens during the Corona plague. The 5-shekel coin was first issued in Israel 31 years ago, in 1990.

Side design The theme of the coin was selected as part of a design competition with the participation of 15 graphic designers from Israel. The governor selected the winning design from three design proposals selected by the Public Committee for the Planning of Banknotes, Coins and Commemorative Coins headed by (retired) Supreme Court Justice Jacob Turkel. With the launch, more than two million coins with a new design will enter circulation.
The coin of appreciation will be a legal process in circulation alongside the other existing coins, and will enter the currency circulation, starting tomorrow, the 21st of the month, through the banks and the Israel Post, and at the public coffers of the Bank of Israel in Jerusalem.
President Herzog: "The last two years have proved to all of us what a wonderful public health system we have won. Since the outbreak of the plague, which has changed our lives beyond recognition, we have witnessed extraordinary dedication and commitment, uncompromising struggle for every patient, complex conditions and changing uncertainty. .
Governor of the Bank of Israel: "I am pleased with the right that fell in parts of the day, to announce to the public the issuance of a coin worth NIS 5, in a special edition commemorating the medical staff's contribution to the epidemic and commemorating such a historic event on a state coin. "I doubt that in light of the depth of the crisis and its enormous economic consequences, the work and mobilization of the workers of the medical and health system in Israel also contributes greatly to the resilience and survival of the Israeli economy."
