83 students and children in the Hadera education system have been diagnosed with coronavirus in recent days. One of them was verified to the Omicron variant, and it is suspected that six more of them became infected with the new strain. The patients come from 12 schools and eight kindergartens, but most of them are from the eighth grade in one middle school in the east of the city.
As of today (Thursday), in the education system as a whole, 4,529 students have been vaccinated against the virus - a significant increase of 125% per week. 35,670 students and children are required in isolation.
The Corona Cabinet on Tuesday approved the education outline as part of a series of measures to halt the rise in morbidity. As part of the outline, they will study remotely in orange and red localities where the immunization rate is less than 70%. The decision went into effect in middle and high schools immediately, and in elementary schools will begin in another three weeks.
Currently, there are five authorities to which the new outline applies. The authorities defined as red are Tiberias, Maalot Tarshiha and Beitar Illit. Ofakim and Mi'ilya are defined as orange. Every Wednesday, the map of the authorities is updated according to the traffic light plan.
Only classes in which the number of students who received the first vaccine dose will be 70% or more will study frontally. Classes with a vaccination rate of less than 70% will study online. In green and yellow localities, the education system will continue to operate as usual, subject to the "Shield of Education" and "Green Classroom" programs.
